Reviews
This was my first visit to the pizzeria. Pleasantly surprised. The pizza reminded me of Fordham road in the Bronx. Shawn, the brother of Mike who sadly passed away during Covid, is now behind the counter. It's a real family operation. Various family members keeping it real. Service is great with a comfortable atmosphere.
I dislike eggplant but something about the slice said "try me" and damn what a great choice. With the Balsamic vinnny on it and fresh Mozz, this slice was something serious. The Chicken Parm sandwich was insanely good. The bread alone can be had with coffee. I dont write many reviews on pizza spots but damn this chicken Parm is something special.
It's rare to find "Old School" or "Classic" pizza shops such as Russo's still in operation in today's world. Fine quality products assembled in fine traditional style served with the flair and charm of today's restauranteur. Russo's line of soft drinks amazingly complements the food as well as the alcoholic beverages. Service is equivalent to having fresh authentic old school pizza made by family and eating it in their dining room. The seating is limited, but totally worth the wait for a taste of the delicious home made marinara. PEARL RIVER is lucky to have such a gastronomical treasure in their community. It is surreal how the owner Michael (deceased) still fills the place with his positive energy, you can almost hear him at the end of your meal "How was that?" then "That's good, see ya soon!" "Thank you!" This is a road trip worthy pizza spot. YUMMY TUMMY!
Love the pizza here! East coast thin crust, traditional and custom pizzas with full Italian menu. As mentioned, eggplant slide was delicious.
I've tried Russo's takeout and delivery a handful times. There is a nice variety of specialty pizza slices, and while they were enjoyable, I hope to experience even more freshness in the future.
